Can't stop printing test page!?

I have an Apple LW Select 360, and just downloaded
the latest "Apple Printer Utility" from Apple, as
I didn't have one. As much as I try to turn off the
test page which prints when the printer is turned on
I can't keep it from printing. I uncheck that box in
the Utility, etc. and it seems to send the new settings
to the printer, but it STILL prints. What am I doing
wrong???! Thanks.
Any ideas on the above. Don't like wasting paper...

It seems like what you did should have fixed it. I don't think you're doing anything wrong, just the printer isn't keeping the info. You might try asking on macfixit.com. Maybe somebody there has run into it before. I've always been able to shut off the test page with the printer utility. Could be some conflict between your OS and the utility. I don't claim to be a Mac expert, just a printer guru.
