Envelopes

I used to be able to print envelopes without problem. Now, the feed into the printer and get printed, but end up just laying inside with ink on them smears. We did change envelope brands, but aren't having the problem with our new HP 6L's. The exit roller kit for the 4L seems the closest, but this is a 6P model and I'm not having accordian paper problems. In fact, regular paper is AOK, as are 3x5 cards. I sure hope one of your kits it what I need. The info and responses on you web site sound like this is the place I'm looking for, I just don't know what product yet. Thanks, Tere
How small are these envelopes? The only thing that I can think of is if they are really small, there is a little drive assembly on the left side that helps feed smaller paper stock. It probably needs replacing, but it's a pretty difficult job. The whole printer needs to be disassembled to replace it.

They are 4-3/8" wide and 5-5/8" long. While smaller than our traditional 4-1/16" wide by 9"1/2" long envelopes, they are certainly bigger than 3" wide by 5" long 3x5 cards that work without problem. They are a little lighter weight paper stock that our regular envelopes and certainly than 3x5 cards, though. Thanks, Tere

Take a look at the little drive assembly. Take the cartridge out and you can see it with a flashlight. The rubber tends to come off the drive rollers causing the problem you describe. The envelopes are less than the distance betseen the cartridge drive and the fuser rollers, so they aren't grabbed.
