HP Laserjet 5MP

I have a Laserjet 5mp that was purchased in 1996. It was used while in college, and up until last month I've never had to change anything.

Now the toner obviously needs replacement. I've often heard of maintenance kits etc that are used after X amount of print hours. I was wondering what kind of preventative maintenance should I use to keep my printer trouble free.

Replace the toner cartridge and DO NOT ever buy a maintenance kit. Huge waste of money. That printer requires no preventative maintenance. Just replace stuff as it goes bad. With as little use as you give it, about the only thing that's going to happen is the fuser exit roller melting and we have a repair kit for that.
