LW630 Pro toner mess

My Apple LaserWriter 630 Pro had a paper jam yesterday. After I cleared the jam and put the toner back in, everything it printed had a big streak down the center of the page with huge globs of toner baked onto it. It appears as if the toner cartridge is dumping large quantities of toner from an area about an inch wide adjacent to the green drum on the cartridge. I cleaned it up, but it just does it again. All I can figure is that I somehow damaged the toner cartridge when I removed it to clear the jam. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or should I just buy a new toner cartridge?

A toner cart isn't worth fixing. Get a new one.

My concern is that the printer might be screwed up from all the toner that's been dumped in it, or has a problem that somehow caused this mess. I don't want to buy a new cartridge if the printer is junk now. Any ideas?

I wouldn't worry about it. Vacuum it up or blow it out with compressed air. Toner is relatively harmless. There's nothing in the printer that would cause it.
