Blank Pages from a Laserwriter Pro 630

My boss was printing and nothing came out but blank pages. When the test page prints it to comes out blank. When I try the test print button the printer spits out a page of black lines. Is this normal, does this indicate a bad formatter board? What else could it be?

just for the reccord, last year I repaired this same printer with the Apple Pro 600/630 2 Blinking Lights Repair Kit
The black lines prove that the engine is good. That kind of points at the formatter. Try turning it off and change the selector on the formatter to "4". Power the printer on and see if it prints a configuration page ok.

Has anyone seen this problem with other printers. I have a similar problem with my HPIIIp and Lexmark Z11. Both printers acting the same way.
