Page Yield Issues
New compatible Q5942X cartridge installed. Supplies status read full with 20,000 pages remaining as expected. After a day and less than 300 pages printed the supplies status reads 5% remaining with only 100 estimated pages remaining. Noticed in the small print it was based on page coverage with this supply of 100.0%. It has done this on two separate cartridges. Any idea what is causing this? Never had this happen on this printer before.
There is a chip on the top of the cartridge that counts pages, not supply. Could be they are using defective chips.
You can buy replacement chips on the internet. Easy to replace. Or complain to the company you bought the cartridges from.
Thanks Moe, I have tried two different cartridges and therefore two different chips with the same issue. I also use these same brand cartridges on other printers without issue which leads me to think the problem lies with the printer and not the cartridge or chip. I'm sure the issue lies with the fact that the page yield calculation is using 100% page coverage instead of the normal 5% coverage. I just don't know why that has changed, what sets that information, or how to fix it?
In the configure device menu, under system setup, set cartridge out to continue. Printer will continue to print until drum life is up.
I don't know how to change yield settings.
