Error message saying "service required"
If you look on this thread: https://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/64702 you might find a few useful tips to get this working again.
You could try using the "SSC Service Utility" but I've heard reports of it not working on this model. Also needs Windows XP/Vista/7 (won't work on 10).
Another alternative is: "To clear the error message and reset the printer - Hold down the STOP and the B&W Start buttons while powering on the printer. This should clear the error message and reset the printer"
Long story short, you need to reset the printer (there is a counter that has reached a limit, shutting the machine down) - then once it's working again, find and clean the "waste ink pads" (small bits of foamy sponge to mop up ink used from head cleaning).
Or, if the printer will not be moved about much, and you have space, install an external bottle/container for the waste ink to go into.
This is a very common fault with Epsons, and more people should be made aware of this. It'll happen to every Epson eventually.
