Printer trips house RCD/GFCI as soon as power switch is turned on
I had this problem yesterday. To fix it I removed the top cover to expose the power supply circuit board and snipped out capacitor C008. This is a 4.7nF Class Y capacitor between line input and chassis. The capacitor isn't essential to the operation of the printer, but is there to reduce EMI. The original is a cheap ceramic type (Murata KX472M). I've ordered a metalised film type (EPCOS B32021A3472M000) to replace it, with the same 10mm lead spacing.
