adf obstruction

I cannot utilize my adf tray because there in an obstruction that I cannot get to. I've looked up videos that recommend lifting the adf mechanism by finding a tab and lifting it. That doesn't seem to exist on my model. It doesn't look like it's possible as well, since the outer plastic frame of the printer wraps up around and over the top of the rear end of the adf mechanism. So if there was a tab, it would be blocked by the plastic frame of the printer (or I would break the fram trying to lift the adf mechanism). I presume that was something remedied in later models that have tabs.

So, how do I get that adf mechanism lifted to remove whatever is obstructing the rdf feeder?

I've already gone through the troubleshooting basics:

1. I lifted the cover and exposed the rdf mechanism- cleared jammed paper

2. lifted the entire top and cleared torn paper from underneath in the main tray.

can't do much else.

Thanks!

I have cleared hundreds of those by shoving a piece of stiff flexible plastic down the paper path. You can try using a cut section of file folder. That should work.
