epson wf 3640 adf consistently has paper jam after scanning first page
I am at my wits end. I have tried everything I can think of. Help is appreciated. Thanks
Are we talking about adf jams? There is a plastic arm that hangs down. It detects paper. Could be sticking in the up position. Your description is too vague to give any other advice.
Thanks Moe for helping me. Here is an example. I placed 4 sheets of paper to be scanned onto the ADF. I used the epson scanner icon on my computer to control the scan. First sheet moved through and scanned perfectly. Second sheet stopped after moving approximately 1/3 of the way around and under the ADF to the scanner. It was not stuck. It just stopped. Third and 4th sheets meanwhile moved together to within 2-3 inches of meeting the turn to go underneath to the scanner. They stopped underneath sheet 2. The 2 pronged arm that hangs down does not appear to be sticking. I have cleaned all the rollers. I did a factory rest of the scanner and copier. I do not find anything that looks broken. Your advice is greatly appreciated.
That sounds similar to problems I have experienced with laser printer feed. They use a solenoid to release the paper. It should feed the sheet and then return and wait for the next release signal for the next sheet. Instead, the solenoid sticks in the release position and the paper keeps feeding. I have never seen it in an ADF feed, but it is the only thing that makes sense.
