Epson Epson Stylus Pro 7600

Change from UltraChrome ink?

I was lucky to find a great Epson Stylus Pro 7600 that prints like a dream with close to 50% full genuine Ultrachrome cartridges. But, I use it for printing out large format patterns on 20lb paper for my handcrafted copper lighting fixtures, no photo printing. So actually, all I need is standard ink, not photo ink. Am I committing a horrible sin if I change this printer over to the much less expensive dye ink? Would I need to change anything else out (heads/dampers) when I change ink? Or, is there a good Ultrachrome substitute that will not require the need to auction off my husbands left kidney to pay for it?
