HP LaserJet 4L Printer
I inherited this workhorse printer. The drivers still work fine with my Mac computer, (unlike my 1-year old HP LaserJet P1102w, which became unsupported by Apple iOS after upgrading to Sierra! That's why I'd like to repair the 4L.)
The 4L was printing text well until recently, when the pages started looking like the background color was set to print medium grey, meaning toner covers the rest of the page. Also, the printed page looks like it has the pattern of the small black roller repeated 7 times on each printed page.
How do I adjust the toner to print only the text and not the grey background color? I've tried using two different toner cartridges. I've cleaned off the green roller in the cartridges and the skinny black roller on the printer itself several times, only to have them blacken up again.
I have no User Guide. I don't know how to adjust the density, in case that is the problem.
Is anyone familiar with this problem?
Any help would be appreciated.
