Stopped working while printing and won't power back on
I have an Epson Stylus Photo T50 that suddenly stopped working and now won't power on. I'd had it for several years, but didn't use it for at least the last 3 years after moving house. Then some days ago I tried reinstalling it and everything was going fine until I decided to run some cleaning cycles due to poor printing quality. Then all of a sudden, while I was printing a test page, I heard a low sizzling sound, a message came up in my computer instructing me to buy new cartridges, and the printer went off. Now it refuses to power back on, no matter what.
Following some suggestions I found here and in other forums, I tried unplugging the printer, pressing and holding the power button down for some seconds, and re-plugging it. This hasn't worked, unfortunately, but as I did this I did notice a low sound, similar to a failed spark, like the one made by a gas lighter that has run out of gas. This sound keeps repeating every 1-2 seconds for as long as a I keep the power button down. I guess this may be some kind of hint as to what the malfunction is, but since my knowledge of printers is virtually non-existent, I can't pinpoint the issue.
Any clues or suggestions?
Thank you very much in advance!
