Epson Epson Stylus Pro 9800

Turning on my printer after over five years of non-use?

I have an Epson Stylus Pro 9800 that I haven't used in over five years. Any advice before I even turn it back on?

Your print heads are so clogged with dried ink, they may not be recoverable. You will need to replace all the inks. Then you need to buy an ink head cleaning kit. You can find them reasonably priced on eBay. Search for Epson print head cleaning kit. You will probably need to buy a new printer.

Thanks. I'm hoping for some sort of miracle. Can I do FURTHER damage by turning the 9800 on and running a nozzle check? Would you recommend I soak the heads first? (with PiezoFlush or Windex or something similar) In other words, does running a nozzle check and/or a power cleaning cycle on a badly clogged printer (that was left to sit for five years) cause further damage, or will the printer simply not print a nozzle check?
