knocking noise

I have replaced my fuser, replaced the black gear successfully. I still get a loud knocking noise when I turn on the printer and while I am printing. What else needs to be replaced?

I assume you replaced the black coupling gear that drives the fuser. The gear inside the assy. That meshes with it also wears out. The assy. is hard to replace and requires removal of the controller board at the bottom of the printer. There are youtube videos that show how to.

Replacing just the black gear is a shortcut and usually works, but like Moe says, that white gear and corresponding assembly is probably worn out on your particular machine. That is a much bigger job. Here are instructions if you are up for it --
