Hp HP Color LaserJet 2840

Printer not getting the message from computer. IP Address is CONFIGURING

I have used this printer for many years and it has been wonderful! I recently remodeled and moved it to a different location. I tried to hook it back up with a network cable, rather than USB, in hopes we could print to it from our laptops. I searched forums and removed the device and reinstalled it, in hopes to get it to work with the network cable. It did not. I then read that the HP CLJ 2840 cannot be networked with Windows 7 64 bit OS. (Is this correct?)

I hooked it back up with a USB cable as it had been previously. The only difference is that I had to use a 16' cable with a 10' extension in order for it to reach the computer. After getting everything hooked up and installing the drivers it "looked" like everything was fine. The printer status is "Ready" but nothing happens when I print. It's like the printer is not getting the message from the computer.

I printed Self Test/Configuration sheet and the IP Address is "CONFIGURING". I printed a Network Configuration sheet and the IP Address is "CONFIGURING".

I don't know what I'm doing and need help.

Thank you.

Additional Information: I am using an Active USB extension cable. I can SCAN just fine so I know the printer and PC are communicating. However, when I print something...nothing happens. "0 document(s) in queue" If anyone is out there that would be kind enough to help I would be very grateful.
