Unknown Printer

This is why we invented the concept of do it yourself printer repair kits complete with video. I've had a few instances where customers bought their own parts and tried to install them. One guy who tried to replace his scanner motor, undid 2 red painted screws! Wiped out the laser diode alignment. Impossible to realign. A 52 service message is always a bad scanner motor. It doesn't say Canon on it. I think what you are referring to is the Main drive motor. The scanner is under the electronics PCA boards. Don't unscrew anything painted red. Make life a little easier and order the kit. The video actually shows the entire printer and explains all the little problems you can have, fault codes and maintenance tips. We have a customer at one of the UCs that is now the printer guru there, using our videos, ordering parts from us every week. Does all his own troubleshooting. We're not kidding when we say that these videos can be used to train new techs.
