Hp HP LaserJet 4

HP LJ4 52 ERROR

I see many lj 2&3 posts on this subject, but no 4. Will the same part work on this hp laser jet 4?

If not, is there a different thing I should look at?

When I look at the kits, the kit for error 50 describes the way this happens:

During warmup lcd displays '52 ERROR'

During the warmup process, it sounds like something is coming up to speed, then '52 ERROR'
then sounds like it is slowing down...

I need this printer fixed ASAP...

thanks for any explanation and suggestion.

Mike,

I don't know if a 52 error on an LJ4 is the same as on a LJ IIP, but the LJ4 uses an "EX engine" as opposed to an "LX engine" for the IIP. So, there's probably a different scanner motor assembly...

Arggh! I told the webmaster to fix that mistake. I thought I caught everything before he uploaded the new site.
On the laserjet 4, the sound you hear is the scanner motor spinning up to a fixed rotational speed. It should be a relatively smooth sounding windup. Unfortunately on the HP4, you have to replace the entire scanner assembly. It'll probably run you over $100 for the part. Replacing it is relatively easy, just remove 3 screws holding the top and the scanner is held in by 4 screws, no alignment. - moe
