LJ4+ vertical "streak"?

Hi,

I have a Laserjet 4+ that has started exhibiting 2 problems. First, on a sheet of text I can see 3 or 4 dots of toner in a row perfectly aligned vertically down the sheet. It seems like some toner got on a roller somewhere and every revolution prints a dot of toner maybe. Second, on the left side of the sheet, about 1" away from the margain, there is what I can only describe as a lighter stripe running vertically down the page. Let's say I printed a full sheet of grey. The stripe is not solid white (like the paper showing through) but it is much lighter than the rest of the image. Is there something I need to clean? I looked at the drum and it seems very clean and in good condition. I would really appreciate any help you might be able to give me.

Regards,
Ed I.
