The NECs are a real problem to repair. NEC won't supply parts to anyone. I had this problem once and had an NEC tech who wupplies me with parts. His advice was that the sensor was so flimsily constructed that even a new one could fail out of the box. He said to just remove it and jumper the connections.
Thanks for the comments. Is this sensor in the roller assembly or in the main body of the machine. I have found one lever inside tht makes the red paper out light change to the green light when pressed just right
The sensor is located under the cover to the left of the paper holder assembly. The cover is pretty easy to get off, I think there are only 2 screws holding it on. I don't work on too many of those as they are considered disposable printers.
