Hp HP LaserJet 5P

HP 5P Tray 1 ( manual ) fails to load

Paper placed in the manual paper tray ( tray 1 )fail to load unless I physically apply force to the rectangular metal lift bar. Failure to apply the force results in a loud clicking sound and no paper feed.
I'd be willing to attempt a fix myself if the solution is somewhat simple. If not, is it better (re: less expensive in the long run ) to purchase a new printer than to have it fixed?

Thank you for your assistance,

Sounds like a bad manual feed assembly. They cost about $40. They are a bit difficult to change. I've been contemplating making that one of our DIY kits.

I've got the same problem. Drop me a note if
you decide to make a DIY kit.

I am looking for a manual. Does anyone have a manual for the HP 5P?
