HP LJ4 accordian fold

People who've had the HP4 accordian fold problem "fixed" have complained that it never got fixed at all. Why does this seem to be common?

How much would it cost to do it myself? Is it easy?

HP discontinued its trade-ins of single laser printers. Is there any way to get a trade in for, say, an HP 2100--or other brand?

I never had one come back that was repaired at our shop. There are incompetent shops that will just change one of the rollers and leave it at that. If you visit, he sells a kit with just the upper roller, no video for $69 + $10 shipping. Our kit sells for $39, contains all the parts on the exit assembly and an instructional video that simplifies the whole process. We haven't had a single problem with any of the kits we've sold.
