 | Re: hp deskjet 895cxi Carrage Return Belt by Steve (2/18/04 3:54 PM) reply | +1 + / - | Unbelievable!! I spend $120k plus on cosumables mainly for HP. Need a drive belt for 895 CXI, no joy. Message to HP -- NO WAY! Will show my bum in Wal marts window before I buy HP corporately or privately again. As markeketing strategy they may think they've got it taped to force everyone to buy new, HP trust me. No way. Blind alley.I also buy all the IT, once bitten..................................

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by Gary (6/10/04 4:46 AM) reply | + / - | Do you get a HP employee discount on your new printer, Sonya? Why would someone who is going to replace a printer be looking at a fix-it-yourself website? Is the female name to invole male sympathy? Folks, I wouldn't buy that last ad. HP wants all these printers junked and in the trash can. They want you to buy a new one, that only has half the ink in their cartridges (which they don't want you to know but, can also be refilled). | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by OOzy (6/17/04 11:45 PM) reply | + / - | <Wrote> Helpful hint: Have an exploded diagrahm of your printer handy as you disassemble and reassemble. You can still get one from www.HP.com. Where can I find the diagram for my HP712C? Do you have a link handy for me
|
 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by Steve (6/22/04 1:14 PM) reply | + / - | Gave up trying to get belt for hp895cxi. Bought Lexmark Z708 for GBP30. Will never consider HP in any format again if their marketing strategies are so callous. Am buyer in UK. No HP will ever be bought professionally again by me if I can help it. Implementing combined photocopiers, so I will do my best to "unmarket" HP. They can go stuff themselves. Incidentally Fenner no longer manufacture, any belts they offer are made by other manufacturers.

Please note that the description lists all the HP printers that use that same belt.....just in case one might find a "parts" machine. www.printerworks.com

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by OOzy (6/24/04 7:15 AM) reply | + / - | Plz tell me where can I find the disassemble diagram. I am stuck. It is hard to replace this belt. I searched the web and HP alot with no help
|
 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by Rudy (6/24/04 8:30 AM) reply | + / - | I posted that link so others would not tack on to this old thread....and it would have answered OOzy's question and provided the solution. Post a NEW query w/printer make and model in subject....or search the archives and obtain your answer.

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by Chris (8/5/04 9:16 AM) reply | +1 + / - | Hi Connie - Although it appears from this thread and several others on the internet about the C4557-40049 that HP has a problem, in actuality the problem is small in comparison to the incredible number of printers (of this series) in the marketplace. At one point, HP was building hundreds of thousands per month (of this series) and the number of failures is honestly small. Like any other power transmission belt, it has a service life, and it will eventually require replacement...regardless of the manufacturer. This model is also not the only belt seeing failures. The frustration and negative posts began as a result of HP's decision to stop supporting this as a replacement part. HP's service centers still purchase replacement/warranty belts from us regularly, but I guess they didn't take into consideration how much their customers like this printer series. So as a result, we hope to support this inquiries to keep these printers operational. On a side note, has anyone actually documented the installation procedure? I have reviewed the drawings/skematics, but have yet to see a step by step posting. Thanks! Chris

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by lindsay (2/2/05 12:44 PM) reply | + / - | I replaced the belt on my 722C HP printer. The cartridge tray was on the right side when I started and I had to move it to the left. Now the cartridges will not return to the right side. How do I get them to return? They just keep jumping out of the right side if I manually try to seat them over there and the green and amber lights blink. thank you lindsay

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by Bert (2/2/05 7:59 PM) reply | + / - | Make sure the encoder strip is installed correctly. It must be threaded through the slot in the carriage. Since the tiny lines on it are detected optically, there will be very little contact with the carriage when it is installed correctly.
|
 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by lindsay (2/2/05 8:38 PM) reply | + / - | ok, the encoder was not threaded. I could not see behind there and the instructions posted forgot to mention that part. Threaded and operational. Nice work all around. I now have the HP deskjet 722C back online.
thks, belt installer

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by James (4/12/05 7:42 PM) reply | + / - | CAUTION! The wide 'fingers' retaining the small silver rollers are brittle. The carriage will drop downward when the carriage rod is removed which can break the silver roller retainers. Remove and reinstall the rod with care to avoid doing damage.
This was the part where I was careful but broke one anyway.... What I did to solve this issue from the paper jamming was on the back of the 'finger' that was broken I removed the spring. That stop the 'finger' from putting tension on the roller. It solved my problem... Printer works fine now..

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by moe (edited 10/2/05 11:13 AM) reply | + / - | Those belts are really hard to source. I doubt you'd find any down under. We just used our last one today. I'll have to order some more. We ship all over the world and Australia is 4-7 days away. I think we once got a package down under in 3 days. Shipping is only about $5 US because the package is very light. http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/specials/parts/belts/S313

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by Stephen (7/29/05 6:09 AM) reply | + / - | Not necessarily.
Why don't you start a thread, (or find an existing one to add to), and give the details of your problem, including any error lights and what your printer does after you turn it on.

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by bobbelsah (8/1/05 11:33 AM) reply | + / - | I just replaced the same belt on my 722c. After many years the belt looked like a violin bowstring.
Helpful hint: Instruction 3 for the cover removal says to pry up. On the 722c that means to hold the screwdriver vertical, tip up, with reference to the printer and pry to the rear for the rear of the covers and to the front for the front of the covers. Once the plastic keepers on the plastic endcovers clear the holes in the metal frame the covers popped loose. 10 to 15 minute job once I figured that out. Also. Do the job over a newspaper spread table. Turning the printer over released many little semidried ink gobs. ANYthing they touch will spread and smear. Don't know what cuts this ink but its worse than car grease.
My thanks to Chris and Fenner in dealing with us individuals on this belt.

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by Cprossu (8/1/05 12:57 PM) reply | + / - | try using water to clean the ink always worked for me on hp ink- also you should lube your carriage bar with something like tri-flo (found in bicycle shops) after cleaning the bar with rubbing alchohol-that should save you from buying a new belt in the forseeable future
|
 | Re: Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by Anonymous (8/8/05 11:18 AM) reply | + / - | Be careful not to apply the lube to the belt however...it could actually cause the belt to fail quicker depending on which lube is used and how much contacts the urethane material.

 | Re: hp deskjet 712c Carrage Return Belt by Stephen (9/18/05 4:30 PM) reply | + / - | I've stripped a number of these printers for parts and have saved the upper paper guides. (thing that holds the metal rollers)
If anyone needs one and Moe does not have them available then click on my name and email me.

 | Re: hp deskjet 895 cxi Carrage Return Belt by Anonymous (9/19/05 7:26 AM) reply | + / - | I have been trying to find a belt for the HP deskjet 895 cxi....but have had no luck. Seems HP is happy to force people to buy new printer rather than be able to fix such a menial problem which could have been prevented , had they used the correct material (plastic instead of rubber) as a belt. If they think I will keep on throwing money away for replacing a smal part such as this... GOOD BYE HP.. I shall NEVER buy any HP product for me or my Company.

How much does cost your belt? And what are the shipping cost (ground mail, not FedEx or DHL) to Switzerland?

I don't understand the complaining, I've had this printer for what seems like forever and I'm happy to try to repair it. Question: Does the belt you offer have instructions for replacement? Is there anything else I should be looking for or should be replacing while I'm in there doing the belt? Thanks for your time, let me know. Bill.

I'm looking for the same but for a 710C. Where/how did you find the part number? I may end up having to junk it and get another printer or find a junker one for parts if what I'm reading about HP printers are true.
Can you help?

 | Re: hp deskjet 710C Carrage Return Belt by skilman (7/3/08 6:28 AM) reply | + / - | Hi Moe, Do you still have that belt in stock ? I have a "brave" HP 710C wich was 9 years (!!) in service , and last week I send it for cleanning and it seems that the belt was to old to resist at this last removing. So, as the printer machine is in perfect condition , I don't see any reason to throw it at the garbage. More than that, I've had made ink reserve for one hundred years :-) ...I hope you still have that belts in stock . I feel like I am loosing an old good friend - as it is when you loose a devoted dog - and I will be very sad if this will happened..I have at home an F4180 series , but it is so noisy and has so small crtridges...Hmmm...I am thinking seriously to avoyd HP printers in the future... www.metacafe.com/channels/skilman/
