Hp HP LaserJet 2420DN

HP 2420DN formatteboard replacement HELP PLEASE !!!

I have printer 1: 2430N with a formatter board is having a network connection problem. So I took a formatter board form the printer 2: 2420DN and put into the 2430N ( went thru the whole process of NVRAM Initialized) After that the 2430N work fine with network connection however the USB port is not recognize by the windows. So I put back both of the boards into their original printers and both printers had good USB connections (Except from the beginning 2430n having network problem).
My question is has anyone seen this before that USB port not working after board swapped.
TIA
After 2 days of searching for the answer, I just realized in the configuration print out there is a new function HP added to the new firmware:
The ability to disable the Parallel and USB ports has been added if the customer desires this functionality.
On the print out said the USB/IEEE 1284 is DISABLE.

does anyone here know how to enable this function? This is driving me nut. Thanks

Print out the Menu Map from which you'll find how to enable it. - healthup
I did the menu map, but I did not find any option in there to enable USB. I also did COLD RESET but no help.
Please advise anyone!

Type in the address of the network printer that is working and go to the tab for security. Click on device security settings and then click on direct ports and remove the x in the box. If no x is present I would put one in, save the settings and then run the same config and see if it has the same message and if it does go back into security settings and unx the box and see if the ports come back. If they do not, then try doing a firmware upgrade again.

Thank you dmzcompute for your reply, I don't see any Security Tab thru the web interface either. I did check the entire menu in the web base, but the only security setting there is in the network set up. No option for the direct ports setting at all. Please advise! - printertech_us
Did you perform a firmware upgrade? Also since the usb ports work when in the correct printers, then there could be an issue with the dc controllers as they maintain backup information for the printers should they need a formatter replacement. There is a undocumented dc controller reset that works on some printers, but not all. You press the engine test button while powering on the printer and continue to hold the button in until the printer comes to ready or displays an error code. Wait a couple of minutes, turn the printer off and then back on and see if that helps. Do these at your own risk as not sure what effect this may have on the duplex or even the network port of the printers.

The formatter board was upgrade with new firmware at the shop before replace at the site where the customer board has problem with network connection ( customer printer has old firmware install but the usb port work fine). With the new board with new firmware the USB port suddenly was disabled. I have try to reset the DC controller by pressing down the button while turning it on but all it does is printing the engine test page.
I was searching on Google and stumble on this info(it seem like the function was added in the new firmware, however I could not locate where in the setting to enable the USB port.)
