ink system failure

Ink system failure, right in the middle of printing Xmas cards. I've tried the various treatments I found online, including powering off the printer for several minutes and manually cleaning the printhead. I have to decide between getting a replacement printhead or a replacement printer. How likely is it that a replacement printhead will resurrect the printer? (Replacing the printer isn't so easy because I need one that will print full bleed -- no margin -- on 5.5x8.5" cards. There are others, but not many the last time I looked.)

Did you try the solution here? http://fix-your-printer.blogspot.com/2010/11/fixing-error-oxc19a0023-on-hp-printers.html

Again Moe -- thanks --

#1 I already tried, several times. (BTW, I'm seeing several related codes. ...23 several times. 24 the first time. Mostly 37 now. I haven't kept track. All with the Ink System Failure message.)

#2 I cannot do because I don't have a Setup key. (Mine is the model with the minimal screen and fewer on-printer functions.)

#3, I have to skip the first step, because if I power off using the button, the printer parks the cartridges where I can't take them out, doesn't matter if the door is open or closed. Following all the other steps, no change.

#4: The "Insert Cartridges" message never comes up, as it's stuck on the Ink System Failure message. Following all the other steps, there's no change.

So #5 ... is my next step?
