Star Laserprint 8 Call Service 1 error and another with Fixing Fail

My STAR Laserprinter 8 displays "Call Service 1" when I turn it on. It will not do anything else. What is wrong and how do I fix it? Also I have another printer that looks exactly the same except it says NEWGEN TurboPS/400 and when I turn it on it give the error "Fixing Fail". I think these both have HP engines, so what model HP are the similar too?
Thanks

Jay

They are both Canon engines. The Star is a Canon SX engine the same as an HPII/III. The Newgen is a Canon LX engine the same as used in the HPIIP/IIIP. I don't know what the error code in the Star means. I would guess it's a fusing error, the same as in your Newgen. That's because it's the most common error in the SX engine. We have replacement lamps for the Newgen, that's what it needs. On the Star, I would suspect it's an AC power module.
